Dab rigs, sometimes referred to as oil rigs, are glass water pipes specifically designed for vaporizing cannabis oil, shatter, and other concentrates. A typical dab rig is made from glass or ceramics, and instead of having a traditional dry herb bowl, they have what is called a nail, or banger, that holds the concentrate once it has been heated.
The nails can be made from glass, quartz, or titanium, and are made to withstand the up to 700° required to flash vaporize concentrate. Heat is applied to the banger with a butane torch or an electric nail, and once ready, concentrate is added.
These weed concentrates are much more potent than flower, and typically range from 50% to 80% THC making it a cost effective option for heavy smokers.
